Nella fantasia (In my imagination)
In my imagination I see a fair world, everyone lives in peace and in honesty there.
I dream of souls that are always free, like the clouds that fly, full of humanity in the depths of the soul.
In my imagination I see a bright world, even the night is less dark there. I dream of souls that are always free, like clouds that fly.
In my imagination there exists a warm wind that breathes on the cities, like a friend. I dream of souls that are always free, like clouds that fly, full of humanity in the depths of the soul.
L’ultima canzone (The Last Song)
They told me that tomorrow, Nina, you will be a bride. Yet still I sing my serenade to you!
Up on the barren plateau, down in the shady valley, Oh, how often I have sung it to you!
Rose-petal, O flower of amaranth, though you marry, I shall be always near.
Tomorrow you'll be surrounded by celebration, smiles and flowers, and will not spare a thought for our past love; yet always, by day and by night, with passionate moan my song will sigh to you.
Mint-flower, O flower of pomegranate, Nina, remember the kisses I gave you! Ah! ... Ah! ...

SYNOPSIS: The Brahmin high priest, Nilakantha, has been forbidden to practice his religion when British forces arrive in the city. Secretly, he leads a group of people back to the temple to worship. Nilakantha's daughter, Lakme, stays behind with her servant, Mallika, gathering flowers to prepare for a bath in the river. As they remove their jewels and clothing, the women sing their Flower Duet, describing the white jasmine, roses, and other flowers that adorn the riverbanks.
TRANSLATION: Under the thick dome where the white jasmine with the roses entwined together on the river bank covered with flowers laughing in the morning, let us descend together! Gently floating on its charming risings, in the river’s current on the shining waves, one hand reaches, reaches for the bank, where the spring sleeps, and the bird, the bird sings.
Under the thick dome where the white jasmine…Ah! …is calling us together! Under the thick dome where white jasmine with the roses entwined together on the river bank covered with flowers laughing in the morning, let us descend together!
Gently floating on its charming risings, on the river’s current, on the shining waves, one hand reaches, reaches for the bank, where the spring sleeps, and the bird, the bird sings.
Under the thick dome where the white jasmine…Ah! …is calling us together!
O sole mio (My only sun)
What sheer delight is a day of sunshine, a clear blue sky when the storm is over! The very freshness brings a festive feeling! What sheer delight is a day of sunshine!
Another sunshine, with brighter rays, is shed upon me from your dear face! The sun that warms me is in your face!
When twilight's falling and the sun is setting a sense of sorrow pervades my being;
Beneath your window would I tarry dreaming when twilight's falling and the sun is setting.
Another sunshine, etc.
Shche Ne Vmerla Ukrainy
The glory and freedom of Ukraine has not yet perished. Luck will still smile on us brother-Ukrainians. Our enemies will die, as the dew does in the sunshine, and we, too, brothers, we'll live happily in our land. We’ll not spare either our souls or bodies to get freedom and we’ll prove that we brothers are of Kozak kin.
