Hurricane Plans

A note from our pastors as we prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Florence in NC:

Dear Highland Family,

Please be in prayer for all those about to be affected by Hurricane Florence, for safety in evacuation, and for minimal damage to property. Highland plans to keep all scheduled Wednesday evening activities, but we are cancelling Thursday and Friday activities. Please stay tuned to Wake County Public School closings for Highland Children’s Center. We currently plan to hold regularly scheduled worship services for Sunday, but pay attention to WRAL on Saturday evening for schedule changes should the weather be worse than anticipated. We are postponing Sunday’s Starting Point New Membership Class and Church Council until the following Sunday, Sept. 23.

If Highland has power, we will keep Bradley Hall open from 10 AM – 4 PM daily (including the weekend), for any neighbors without power to come get water, charge their devices and use the internet. Should your neighborhood lose power, be sure to let your neighbors know about this opportunity.

We are not equipped to be an overnight shelter, but if you are willing to host church members in your home, or if you find yourself needing a place to stay overnight, please contact Rev. Charlie Baber, 919-886-1584.

Our Visitation Team will be checking in on our homebound members this week to make sure everyone is safe.

If you want to be part of Highland’s Disaster Relief team, dispatched to Eastern NC after hurricanes like this, please contact Cullen Whitley, 919-314-7044, or cullen.whitley@gmail.com

Be safe,
Alan & Charlie
