Adult Volunteer Descriptions

Brief Overview:

Calling all adult leaders volunteers! We need your help to support and encourage our HUMC youth!
Be a work team leader from home, no experience necessary!

We need adult volunteer help the week of July 19th-25th for our virtual based Highland Service Project: Community Impact week!

We will need 2 adults possibly for every 6 youth signed up. OR just one depending on turnout and availability. I will be floating and available to fit into any spot to help.

As adult leaders you will:

Watch the short morning devotional videos and evening worship videos Monday-Thursday night. This would take approximately 10- 20 min per day and can be watched as your schedule allows.

Participate in a camp wide zoom call Friday night

Contact 5 youth or less daily about the message and project for that day, during a time that works for you! This can be a group call, email/text or individual contact.

Lunch breaks, drives home from work, or any other time that works for you. Timing is flexible so that we can increase participation and involvement!

(please let me know what time works for you and we can schedule the call around that depending on your Youth group)

Contact church congregation members, neighbors, family, and friends about our canned food drive and support/ encourage youth with this project and assist them in contacting others in the community to let them know about this food drive. THIS CAN BEGIN NOW.  For parents of current youth, this is a great activity to do together with your youth and get them out of the house this summer. They can see their efforts paying off, see where the food is collected and taken.
Due to the pandemic, there is a huge need right now for food donations so our church would be working together towards this community need.

Drop-offs for canned food!

We will have a hub outside the Narthex for people to drop cans off straight into the bus as we did earlier in the summer. This is the most safe practice for collecting cans.

We will have time windows that Saturday for canned food drop offs.

Additional

Help deliver supplemental project items to congregational members’ homes on 7/19 if members can not pick the kits up at church. We plan to incorporate a birdhouse project into this year’s virtual HSP. Youth can construct bird houses with a kit, then paint the birdhouse which would then be delivered to a family to bring some hope, cheer and connection during these strange times.

Support and encourage the youth throughout the week with following through on the projects, daily devotionals, and viewing the streaming videos

Family of Youth responsibilities.
